Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment).

Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant National Occupational Standards (NOS) (where applicable). This qualification is regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework. It is also approved and supported by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), the sector-owned body for the learning
and skills sector.

The course consists of three units. One unit is a knowledge only unit assessed by a written assignment and professional discussion. You will be expected to attend taught sessions where you will gain the knowledge required. Some units will be conducted on a one-to-one basis and will vary according to your work role. However in order to be considered for the certificate you will need to demonstrate that you assess within a classroom environment and within the workplace.

All applicants must hold a minimum Level 3 subject specific qualification relevant to the area you are assessing. You must also demonstrate that you are working at Level 2 in literacy. In addition you must have access to candidates and have a proven track record of assessing on a formal or informal basis. Within your organisation you should have a counter signer and a qualified IQA.
